Land Donation an Expression of Couple’s Affinity for Adena Greenfield Medical Center
For Mike and Linda Penn, the ongoing expansion and renovation of Adena Greenfield Medical Center is very personal.
Not only did Mike’s mother once work as a nurse at the hospital, but prior to her 2013 retirement, Linda herself also had worked there for 35 years, having started there when it was operating out of a house as Greenfield Municipal Hospital.
Now, Linda finds herself involved in multiple ways with Adena Health Foundation’s fundraising effort for the current project, which involves the construction of a new medical office building that will be placed under the same roof as the rest of the hospital.
Not only is Linda helping lead Adena Health Foundation’s efforts in Greenfield, but the company she and Mike own, Greenfield Research, also recently donated three parcels of land totaling more than one-third of an acre just south of an existing parking lot for a parking expansion, demonstrating that donations of property, as well as cash, are invaluable to success.
“Greenfield has a lot of really positive things going on,” Linda said. “This project is really important to the community, and we’re excited that they are enlarging and renovating and adding new equipment and services.”
With a tentative September opening, the expansion’s additional space and new technology will enhance the growth of services in several existing treatment disciplines, as well as open the door to explore the addition of new services for the Greenfield area. It also will boost patient privacy and convenience, include a pharmacy, provide a more efficient layout expected to decrease patient wait times and offer more spacious exam rooms.
The Penns believe others share their feeling that it’s a project worth supporting.
“It goes back to that’s where our heart is,” Linda said.
