Want to Help Your Community? Consider a Planned Gift to the Adena Health Foundation
It’s something we all consider as we begin to think about our lives and the lives of others. Should something happen to us, what do we leave behind?
For Mart De Waard, the answer is found through giving, and the Adena Health Foundation was the perfect partnership to make his legacy a reality.
“I wanted to make sure my estate—should something happen to me—was not going to get caught up in probate,” says Mart, a manager in Business Development for Adena Health System. “I just decided to put a donation in my will for the Adena Health Foundation, and added them as a beneficiary designation to my retirement plan.”
Mart, both through personal experience with his parents and through his past work with hospice care, has seen the “absolute mess” that can occur when a clear, written road map for an estate isn’t present. Since he’s not married, has no children and his family members are all overseas, a planned gift of a portion of his estate to a worthy organization made sense. His experience working with the Adena Health Foundation and as an Adena employee helped determine his choice of the organization.
“If something happens to me, I’d be at peace knowing that the money saved for my retirement would go to good use in the community,” Mart says. “The Adena Health Foundation is close to home, it’s close to my heart, it serves the local community, and I thought that was the right thing to do.”
Like Mart, you too can give yourself and your loved ones peace of mind while supporting organizations like the Adena Health Foundation. For more information about including the Adena Health Foundation in your estate plan, please contact Beau Bowman at (740) 779-8718 or hbowman2@adena.org.
